I would rate Baboon four stars, it was a really good book and I enjoyed it very much but I have also read a bit better and sometimes I didn’t really get parts of the story, but mostly I was very good, and It grabbed the reader.
Baboon is by David Jones, it has 169 pages in the book. The book was published by Annick Press. It was published in 1956.
This book is very different from Homeless Bird, because one takes place in India and the other in Africa, one is about a girl and the other is about a baboon. But they do have some things in common for example, they are both about the lifestyle of their character. And in both books the main character has been away from their family.
The setting of the book takes place in Africa. The character has to face many struggles and conflicts through out the novel. For example, he turns into a baboon and then he has to be accepted, but really in the beginning he is not. Zeus, is one of the more powerful baboons, but he would do anything to keep them safe and he would sacrifice his life for them. Gerry, is a clueless baboon that tries to be accepted by the other baboons and he copies everyone else to try and survive, but what he wants most is to be with his parents.
I really enjoyed this book because it was exciting and I have never read something like it. It was interesting to find out how Gerry would cope as a baboon in the troop.
