A Baboon Boy Baboon
David Jones
169 pages Annick Press, 2007
I like to read science-fiction and Historical Fiction. I chose this because Mr. Jackson said it was a guy book and it also looked interesting. I think the book is easy and interesting because it tells the story of a boy in the eyes of a baboon. I read this book the most on the first and second day.
The setting is in Kenya (a country in Africa) in the present day. The airplane, the sleeping rock and his mother’s and father’s camp. A quote that the author wrote that describes the setting is “He crept into the trees at the base of the rock…”
The main character in the book is Gerry Copeland. His relationship to his parents is that he is their son and he has a relationship with the baboons because he looks like one. “
I liked this book more than Homeless bird because there was more action and it had a good plot. It was also fun to read a book from a human who is in baboon form tell a story instead of an Indian girl who is a widow, deal with life.
The POV is in the eyes of 14 year old Gerry Copeland who after an airplane crash, his conscience goes into a baboon. After that it shows his survival with baboons and he making weapons to survive and to fight other Baboons.
The setting is in an African reserve where a troop of Baboons live.
The conflict is between Lothar vs. Gerry
